John R. and Barbara Robinson Family Director

Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University is housed in the only building in North America designed by Swiss-born architect Le Corbusier. It hosts the Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies, exhibition spaces, and the Harvard Film Archive.

2013–2016

In this endowed directorship, conceived, curated and managed exhibitions, academic and public programs, and publications of contemporary art.

  • Organized exhibitions and new commissions with artists Martin Beck, Phil Collins, Simon Fujiwara, Margaret Lee, Josiah McElheny, Lorraine O’Grady, Elizabeth Price, R.H. Quaytman, Martha Rosler, Kerry Tribe, and Cerith Wyn Evans, among others. 

  • Collaborated with Harvard faculty and administrators to connect exhibitions and programs to the academic goals of the Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies and the Graduate School of Design. 

  • Launched and managed a communication, graphic design, branding, website, and social media strategy by hiring designer James Goggin, strengthening the international and local visibility of the institution. 

  • Initiated and fostered collaborations with university departments and Boston-area institutions to present programs with visiting artists and curators. 

  • Partnered with Harvard’s Advancement to cultivate funding from donors, foundations, and grants.

  • Launched and served as chief editor of an annual reader published by Sternberg Press.
